Kelly Khumalo shot Senzo Meyiwa by mistake

Kelly Khumalo’s lawyer, Dan Teffo, will call an eyewitness to testify that her lover, Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates captain Senzo Meyiwa, fired the fatal shot that killed him.

As he finished cross-examining Sergeant Thabo Mosia, a police forensic officer and the state’s first witness, Teffo said this. He further said that Khumalo shot Meyiwa with a handgun that Longwe Twala had brought to the crime scene.

Teffo restated his views from Tuesday’s hearing at the Pretoria high court, saying that the state’s claim that robbers killed Meyiwa was “nonsensical.”

Mosia was questioned by Teffo regarding his reliance on information from Brigadier Philani Ndlovu, who told him about the invaders, according to the forensic officer. Ndlovu, according to Teffo, was not an eyewitness and hence could not be trusted.

“I put it to you that… an eyewitness will testify that Nonhlanhla Kelly Khumalo shot Senzo Robert Meyiwa by mistake,” Teffo told Mosia. “The same eyewitness would also testify that the handgun used to shoot Senzo Robert Meyiwa was a revolver that arrived with Longwe Twala.

He added that the eyewitness would also confirm that a meeting of senior Gauteng police officers took place “to hatch the plan of avoiding to say how Senzo was killed in that house,” which reportedly included former provincial Hawks head Shadrack Sibiya and former Gauteng head of safety Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane.
