Four Croatian couples Held by police on suspicion of human trafficking

Four couples with Croatian ancestry have been detained at the Chifubu police station on suspicion of smuggling four children of Congolese ethnicity.

The Fiesta guest home in Ndola’s Kansanshi district is where the wives and the DRC children, whose ages vary from one year, three months to three years old, are believed to have made reservations.

According to Copperbelt commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba, the incident was reported to the divisional criminal investigations office and is believed to have occurred on Tuesday about 0:00.

“The investigations officer received an information that there were some three white people who had booked rooms at Spree guesthouse in Kansenshi. They were seen with four young children of Congolese origin. Immediately, the regional immigration officer Mr Steward Chiyaka was informed to organise for some immigration officers to accompany police officers on investigations. The plan was to stop them at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe at the time of checking in,” he said.
