Mzansi singers were able to get places on the nominees list for this year’s Black Entertainment Television Awards. Rapper Blxckie and actress Nadia Nakai were notable nominees.
It’s interesting to note that Tasha Okereke, Black Sheriff, and Benjamin Okereke were all nominated in the category for best international flow together with both South African nominees.
The inclusion of the two South Africans on the list, who are notable individuals, wasn’t a surprise.
Nadia Nakai made a splash in the music industry with the song “Yass Bitch.” She had several other songs to follow that one up, establishing herself as a major player in South African rap. She used to be signed to Family Tree, but she left the company to start her own.
Blxckie is considerably more recent on the scene than he is. But he has already made a name for himself in South African rap music.
These haven’t in any way hindered the songster, who is young in age and even younger on the music scene. Instead, he has established himself as one of the most important young voices in the game, a voice that no one could ever wish away.
The winner of the award, if any, will still be unknown among the South Africans.
